Recently, we took delivery of the much anticipated BH Emotion Folding, a folding electric bike powered by the proven Panasonic 250W mid-drive motor/battery system.  We have ridden several small e-bikes in the past, some folding and some not, most with hub motors and one (Dahon Boost) with a mid-drive.  The BH Emotion Folding comes equipped with the bulletproof Panasonic 250W motor and Sanyo Nickle-Cobalt-Manganese battery rated at 8 amp hours.  It has a Shimano Nexus 3-speed internal rear hub mounted to 20” wheels.  The front hub is a Shimano dynamo which provides power for front and rear light.  Folding the bike is a simple affair, and at 44 lbs the bike is easy to stow in the trunk or closet.  What impressed me the most however was riding the bike - The BH Emotion is in a league of it’s own as far as ride-ability is concerned.  The power delivery is silky smooth and intuitive.  Hill climbing is a breeze and the small 20” wheels make for nimble handling on crowded streets.  Look for a slight redesign of the frame for 2012 offering a lower step-over height.
